It was a beautiful, sunny October day as I made my way from San Francisco to Sacramento to meet with the creators of Ladies of Steampunk.
But to get there meant my first time driving through a toll booth!!
$5??!! I thought tolls were like... paid in change! $.35 tops! Spendy San Francisco.

I was headed out to meet with the Ladies of Steampunk cofounders, my skin still a bit green from my all night bodypaint shoot with Trina Merry the night before (but that's a different post ... HERE). Sean McCaffrey and Sean W. Makiney, known affectionately as "Monkey," are the heart and soul of the Ladies of Steampunk. Sean takes the photos and handles the artistic aspect, including wardrobe coordination, while Monkey is the business and technical man.
Would I like to shoot for their magazine, they wondered?
Ummm... give me about half a second to decide on that one...
The shoot itself was at the Shady Lady Saloon (just from the name I knew I would fall in love with the place - the old timey photos of ladies with their boobies out adorning the bar cinched the deal).
Shooting took maaaaaybe half an hour.
Then it was time to celebrate a job well done!
After a quick Shady Lady drinky poo, Sean and Monkey whisked me away to
The Pour House for trivia and shenanigans, me still dressed in my dapper Steampunk Mistress best.
What could be crueler than to take a model with a LOVE of good beer, but an anti-carb career choice, into a place named The friggen POUR house??
I can only be so strong...
But the truly dangerous part of the evening... was THIS:
Built right into the three booths inside The Pour House, are three taps! The gal comes over, swipes her 'You Have My Permission to Drink' card, and you are charged by how many ounces you pour. The outside two handles are seasonal beers and that third middle one, yes you're seeing that right,
is a JAMESON WHISKEY handle.
*Queue inebriated angels singing*
They really had to twist my arm to play bartender.
As if the table taps weren't enough, The Pour House is located right next to train tracks, and every time a train goes by they have "$2 Train Shots" of Jack Daniels.
Why?? Why!! Why.
It was beautiful. Cheers.
XOXO

P.S.
I don't recall how trivia ended but I'm pretty sure we kicked ass. We probably won, even. Let's just say we did. We totally won.
